What is Yoga? The American Yoga Association has defined yoga this way:

The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. In ancient times, the desire for greater personal freedom, health and long life, and heightened self understanding gave birth to this system of physical and mental exercise which has since spread throughout the world. The word Yoga means “to join or yoke together,” and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.

Many employees are already experiencing the benefits of yoga in the workplace. Here’s what they have to say…

I have seen an all around improvement in my physical as well as mental well being. I used to have burning shoulder & neck pain by the end of each working day. Since I started yoga that is gone. I have recently started walking, and my endurance & breathing are remarkable. I have more muscular strength through out my whole body, less fatigue, and amazing amounts of energy that make getting through each day fun, not a chore!” – Karen W., AT&T

I feel better after a Yoga session is over. It leaves me more alert, sitting straighter in my office chair…it has helped me tone and shape muscles that were really out of shape, which increases my self confidence and how I look. I have also found that the breathing exercises have helped me be more relaxed while at work, and also help me to relax and fall asleep faster when I go to bed at night.” – DNR Employee

As I was helping my brother move a couch, I pulled my back. The osteopath I consulted highly recommended yoga. As I attended, I noticed that the lower back pain I usually had went away. Attending the classes left me feeling energized and alive. I have learned a lot that has helped me on the job and in athletic training. I recommend yoga frequently to people who suffer from back pain.” – Nathan W., RMP

I started Yoga with Linda 3 years ago when I assumed a more stressful job position and needed a mid-day break. Yoga has helped me with core strength, balance and flexibility and is a welcome release from the madness that is life. And you get a little nap at the end.” – Matt L., DNR

In my early 30s I had chronic low back pain because of deteriorated disks. Really debilitating stuff. Doctors recommended surgery but at the time back surgery was in its infancy and I opted out. I stumbled into a yoga regime and with regular practice I am pain free most of the time because I am able to stretch and decompress my lower back. I’m so glad I didn’t have the surgery 17 years ago”. – Tina L., Franklin Covey

    • Hi Pat, You don’t have to work in an office to be stressed out. Yes, I do offer classes outside the office…at suncrest, in alpine, private and group sessions. What is your main complaint that yoga, deep breathing, and mindfulness could alleviate for you?
